ChoreoPocket (“ChoreoPocket,” “we,” “us”) is built and operated by Gerald Lovelace. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We try to collect as little as possible and to make the data flow easy to understand.
What we collect
Account information
If you create a ChoreoCloud account, we store your email address and password. Email and password are managed through our authentication provider, Supabase, and your password is never stored in readable form.
Profile information
You can add profile details to personalize your account and, if you choose, your public portfolio. These are optional and include your display name, first and last name, date of birth, gender, account type (for example dancer, teacher, or studio), the date you started teaching, a bio, a username, a profile photo, links to your social accounts (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and a personal website), and a resume/CV file. You can edit or remove these at any time from your profile settings.
Your projects and media
ChoreoPocket stores choreography projects on your device. If you are signed in to ChoreoCloud, your projects, notes, formations, audio files, video takes, and any separated stems are also uploaded to Supabase Storage so you can access them across devices and (when you choose) share them with members of your studio.
We never look at the contents of your projects. We never use your audio or video to train machine-learning models.
Camera and microphone
When you record a video take, ChoreoPocket accesses your camera and microphone to capture the recording. We only access them while you are actively recording, and the resulting recordings are stored as part of your projects. If you import an existing video instead, we access only the file you select.
Music service connections
ChoreoPocket can connect to Apple Music so you can choreograph to its catalog. When you connect Apple Music, we store the authorization token it issues us so we can search for and play tracks. We do not store your full listening history; we only store the specific track identifiers you attach to a project. Streamed music is never downloaded, copied, or included in exported videos.
Because streamed music stays inside Apple Music, some features are only available when a project uses a music file you own on your device. Sharing a project that uses Apple Music requires each collaborator to have their own Apple Music subscription, on-device stem (music) separation is not available for streamed tracks, and streamed audio cannot be included in shared or exported projects. For those features, we recommend using local music files you own.
Subscription information
Subscriptions are processed through Apple and managed through RevenueCat. We receive entitlement information (whether your subscription is active, the product identifier, the renewal/expiration date, and your account type) so we can unlock the right features. We do not receive your full payment information.
Diagnostics and crash reports
To keep the app stable, we use Sentry to collect crash and error reports. These reports include technical details such as your device model, operating-system version, app version, and a diagnostic stack trace. When you are signed in, a report may be associated with your user ID and email so we can follow up on the issue. We use this data only to diagnose and fix problems.
On-device data
Cached media downloaded for offline use, your preferences (theme, sort order, offline cache size), and authentication tokens are kept locally on your device. We use the file modification date of cached media for our least-recently-used eviction policy when you approach the cache size limit you set in Settings. Audio processed for stem separation is analyzed on your device and is not uploaded for that purpose.
What we do not collect
- We do not include any third-party advertising or ad-tracking SDKs.
- We do not collect device location.
- We do not collect contacts, calendars, or health data.
- We do not access your photo library, camera, or microphone unless you explicitly choose to import or record media inside the app.
How your data is used
- To run the app. Playback, sync, sharing, and offline use of your projects.
- To authenticate you. Sign-in, sign-up, password reset, and session refresh.
- To deliver subscription features. Verify entitlements with RevenueCat and unlock paid functionality.
- To keep the app reliable. Diagnose crashes and fix bugs using Sentry reports.
- To support you. If you email us at info@choreopocket.com, we use your message to reply.
Sharing your projects
When you invite a member to a project, that person can read (and, depending on the role you grant them, edit) the project’s metadata and media. Teachers can also track student progress for projects shared with a class. Sharing is entirely opt-in and you can revoke access at any time from the project’s Settings sheet.
Public portfolio
You can choose to make your portfolio public. When you do, the profile information you have added (such as your name, username, bio, social links, resume, and the choreography you feature) becomes visible to anyone with the link. Your portfolio is private by default, and you can switch it back to private at any time from your profile settings.
Service providers
- Supabase — authentication, database, and media storage.
- RevenueCat — subscription entitlement management.
- Sentry — crash and error reporting.
- Apple App Store — payment processing.
- Apple Music — only when you connect it.
Each provider has its own privacy policy. We share only what is needed for the feature you are using.
Data retention & deletion
Your projects stay in your account until you delete them. Deleting a project removes its database row and all associated media files from ChoreoCloud. You can delete your entire account at any time from within the app (Account settings → Delete Account), which removes your profile and associated cloud data. You can also email info@choreopocket.com from the address on the account and we will permanently delete it and all associated data within 30 days. Some information may persist briefly in backups or diagnostic logs, or where retention is required by law.
Children
ChoreoPocket is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a teacher inviting a minor student to ChoreoCloud, you are responsible for obtaining the parental consent required in your jurisdiction.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete the personal data we hold about you. Email info@choreopocket.com and we will respond within 30 days.
Changes to this policy
If we make a material change to this policy, we will update the effective date above and, when meaningful, notify you in the app or by email.
